The Borough of Island Heights is located on the Toms River and Barnegat Bay. It is about 4 miles east of the Toms River exit #82 of the Garden State Parkway.

The planned development of Island Heights, NJ dates back to 1878, when it was founded as one of the State's nine Camp Meeting towns. Enjoying a full and interesting history as a Methodist community, an artist's center and a yachtman's paradise, it is among the best preserved Victorian resorts in the State of New Jersey.
